We try to highlight the good. Not the sometimes crushing ups and downs that are an everyday part of farm life. That is the heart of what we are - first and foremost, an organic apple orchard - the cider comes next. Today though, we're all a little heartbroken. If you've been following us for a while, you'll know just what an important part of the orchard our pigs are. Yesterday we had a tragic accident and the pig barn burnt down, taking quite a few of our little friends with it. The Berkshires and Northern Blacks play a huge role in keeping our orchard organic. These gentle creatures are part of a method we use to eradicate the plum curculio beetle. Today we are grateful for the hardwork of our local and surrounding fire departments and all of our staff who quickly and efficiently saved so many. We'll be drinking a cider in your honor tonight.
