As the sun arcs low in the midday sky, this year’s harvest slowly ferments in its winter slumber. Everyone here at the orchard enjoys a few halcyon days to remember the hard work of the past year’s harvest, while looking forward to next year’s crop of apples. To warm ourselves in the cold northern solstice, we enjoy our winter cider—lightly spiced with ethically traded cinnamon, vanilla, and maple syrup. Please enjoy a glass with someone you love, and perhaps someone you don’t. Mend a bridge, extend a hand, and be good to one another. Whoever you are, whatever you do, recognize that we are all the same. So hoist a wee glass of cider to your fellow man, and look ahead to a wonderful future with a renewed sense of gratitude and optimism!
